VENEZIA

A DISCOVERY

AWAITS AROUND

EVERY CORNER.

Venice truly is one of those places that is not like anywhere else on earth. Just scoot past the the tourists, take a turn each time your heart leads you and find sweet moments of serene beauty.

“Venice, the most touristy place in the world, is still just completely magic to me.”

— Frances Mayes

“Venice is eternity itself.”

— Joseph Brodsky

“Venice, it’s temples and palaces did seem like fabrics of enchantment piled to heaven.”

— Percy Bysshe Shelley

Venice is a city for lovers. It is romantic in every sense of the word. We have found ourselves talking about the almost set-like quality of the city. It feels as though you have found your way into classic Italian cinema. You are the lead actor and the city is your costar. True love is inevitable and it will be an enduring romance.

“A realist, in Venice, would become a romantic by mere faithfulness to what he saw before him.”

— Arthur Symons

We have had the pleasure of visiting Venice more than once, and each time we worry that the tourists will be too much. “Too crowded.” “Too expensive.” “Is it worth it?” Then we begin to wander.

“Every time I describe a city I am saying something about Venice.”

— Italo Calvino

We wander over bridges, through campos and down tiny little walkways. There are golden buildings, peaceful canals, plants on rooftops, perfectly worn doors and the sense you couldn’t see all of this anywhere else. It is a zigzagging dance through a the most beautiful maze. There doesn’t need to be a goal or destination. You just need to allow yourself to get lost.

“To build a city where it is impossible to build a city is madness in itself, but to build there one of the most elegant and grandest of cities is the madness of genius.”

— Alexander Herzen

These are some of the moments we captured as we were taken in by La Serenissima.
