“THE CITY THAT NEVER

SLEEPS” IS FILLED

WITH BEAUTY
AND MYSTERY.

Sometimes we go to a place or work on a project that sticks with us. The memory leaves a lasting impression. We find ourselves changed and inspired.

“So I went to New York City to be born again.”

— Kurt Vonnegut

Over ten years ago we went to New York City at Thanksgiving and fell in love with it, as many people do. The magic of autumn transitioning to winter was beautiful. We saw leaves falling, people skating and lights twinkling. The city dazzled us. The food filled us. The architecture stunned us. The art moved us. We drank and ate it all in.

“The true New Yorker secretly believes that people living anywhere else have to be, in some sense, kidding.”

— John Updike

“One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.”

— Tom Wolfe

Afterwards we looked at the images taken on our early 2000’s digital camera, and decided that the photos didn’t quite do New York justice. So we kept them to ourselves, leaving them to gather metaphorical dust on our hard drive.

Years later we looked back at the images and decided they told a wonderful story about our trip and the city. (Sometimes you need a little bit of time and distance from your creative work). The photos just needed some imagination and photoshop magic to create the feeling of our trip. A little bit vintage. A little bit of magic. And a whole lot of New York City love.

“Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address.”

— Nora Ephron

“The city seen from the Queensboro Bridge is always the city seen for the first time, in its first wild promise of all the mystery and beauty in the world.”

— F. Scott Fitzgerald

“London is satisfied, Paris is resigned, but New York is always hopeful. Always it believes that something good is about to come off, and it must hurry to meet it.”

— Dorthy Parker

“There is something in the New York air that makes sleep useless.”

— Simone De Beauvoir

“I go to Paris, I go to London, I go to Rome, and I always say, “There’s no place like New York.””

— Robert De Niro

“I still believed in possibilities then, still had the sense, so peculiar to New York, that something extraordinary would happen any minute, any day, any month.”

— Joan Didion

“One can’t paint New York as it is, but rather as it is felt.”

— Georgia O'Keefe
