Spark Apprentice: Tenzin

March 31, 2014 by bryan

Today we welcomed our new graphic design Spark apprentice from Westlake Middle School, Tenzin, on his second day to our office. We spent the day exploring this history of graphic design and the printing press and ending the day resreaching movie posters by one of my favorite designers, Saul Bass. Already we are impressed with this 8th grader's work ethic and eagerness to learn. We can't wait to see what he will come up with for his final project this spring.

Spark apprenticeships bring underserved middle school students out of the classroom and into the workplace for individualized mentoring that results in educational success and powerful career ambitions. Spark is the only mentoring program in the US working to raise high school graduation rates through tailored workplace apprenticeships that inspire seventh and eighth grade students to engage in their education and set long-term career goals. Since 2004, Spark has helped thousands of students explore careers through individualized, hands-on apprenticeships with volunteer, working professionals.
